'l'f1- M ,pb a1,,7w,,,, MARY SLADEK GIRLS' SELF-GOVERNM ENT ASSOCIATION 'The Girls' Self-Government Association, now in its second year of existence, has, under the leadership of its president, Mary Sladek, shown much progress. The organization is somewhat unusual, as besides a secretary and a treasurer, there are also a fire chief, and proctors for each floor of the dormitory building. 'The association has proved a great help in teaching the girls discipline, and self-reliance. Boys' Treasurer 'The Literary Society has held regular monthly meetings throughout the year. Some very interesting programs have been given, including debates, dialogues, plays and declama- tions. Minor parts have been assigned members of the lower classes in order that they may be trained to take the places of the graduating members. 'The purpose of the Society is: 1. To help and correct our English. 2. To improve our signs and finger-spelling. 3. To teach us how a meeting is conducted. 4. To train us to appear before an audience. BOY SCOUT TROOP 11 'Boy Scout Troop 11 was founded in October, 1916, by Robert Sproul, who was the first scoutmaster. QThe present troop, headed by Vernon T. Wall, scoutmaster, consists of twenty boys divided into three patrols. QThere have been scouting activities going on almost all of the time during the past year. The highlights were the Cou.rt of Honor, which was held on January 28, and the Merit Badge Exhibition in which the troop received a high rating by virtue of a printing exhibit. 'The troop is sponsored by the 20-30 Club of Berkeley, and has been its guest on several occasions during the past few months.
