Text from Pages 1 - 116 of the 1981 volume:

We dedicate this year, V Mr. James Sf lton for his hardworking interest of the students of GaVhan He always lent an ear whan it was nee '■and always set his goals toward heip.ina us.. We thank him for all his sincere dedication a, to this school. L7 Imagine a couple of seniors sitting in that last history class with properly solemn faces at the summary, but with their hearts pounding and their hands sweating, counting the seconds. Imagine a junior at state track competition, realizing all the pressures of this last race. She strives for the finish line, friends and fans cheering and yelling for another first place ribbon. Picture four sophomores stuffed in the front seat of a very small sports cart motioning to another still and shouting that there’s plenty of room. Finally you can almost see a mob of former freshmen arriving next year with that understanding smile of what the children” of the new year face. 2 Faculty and Administration ...................................... 5-13 High School.......................................................15-23 Activities........................................................25-37 Organizations ................................................... 39-51 Sports............................................................53-65 Middle School ................................................... 67-83 Primary School .................................................. 85-91 Advertising 93-104 Blackboards, grade books. The weather for the day was perfect. The float winners were the fifth grade and the juniors. The theme was movies or t.v. shows. Reigning King and Queen for 1980 are Vince Fuchs and Carrie Names. Kevin Bergs ten and Judy Nelson and Brad Naylor and DeAnn Gotschall were the attendents. The Stras- burg Indians came to play football only to be defeated, 27-6. The Calhan Band provided the half-time entertainment and the Basin Street Blues Band provided the music for the dance. 28 30 The Annual Future Farmers of America, Parent-member Banquet was held May, 1981. This year the membership roster totaled twenty-six, seven of these being officers. 32 The athletes of Calhan are special but even more special are the people who support these athletes. The athletes would like to thank their parents, friends and surround- ing community for all their support. A special thanks goes to the Booster Club for all they have done and for the two banquets held each year in honor of our athletes. 33 Graduates from left to right, back row: K. Hlatki, A. Wills, W.
