The Calhan Bulldog 1964 DEDICATION To the students of Calhan High School, we dedicate this book. May you realize now, and by this book be re- minded in years to come, that your High School Days are among the happiest and most worthwhile of your life. It is with pride that we congratulate the students and their parents on their past and present good sports- manship , which this trophy represents. May these attitudes toward competitors never cease to exist. JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY Our school, along with all other schools of our nation, mourn the tragic death of our former President, John F. Kennedy. We are thankful for the short time that Mr. Kennedy was given to us to be President and Leader of our country. We can do no better than to use the words of his brother, Robert, in his tribute to the late President: He demonstrated conviction, courage, a desire to help others who needed help, and true and genuine love for his country. Because of his efforts, the mentally retarded and the mentally ill will have a better chance, the young a greater opportunity to be educated and live with dignity and self-respect, the ill to be cared for, the world to live in peace . May we never forget the words of John F. Kennedy, Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country. 3 As the Yearbook approaches completion, we are re- minded that the year is rapidly drawing to a close. Then one wonders if die accomplishments will meet the goals so optomistically set when the term began. The answer is, of course, NO. In education, as in life, aims are never quite attained. We strive, but never quite reach the heights. However, the year has been pleasant, eventful, and profitable. I am sure we have all received education of the most valuable and lasting nature. The staff and sponsor of the annual are to be highly con- gratulated for the book they have produced. I am sure that, as the years go by, it will never cease to bring pleasure and satisfaction to the students of Calhan High School. First on the list, Stan Adelman, (that brave soul taught History class) He played basketball and danced like WOW, And better yet, was a friend to lad and lass. Judy Corder was our songstress gay, with a devilish grin, she'd do her part, In work or play, to make life fun, And always with god's love at heart. Next comes the sports fiend, Don Eurich, Who found his kicks in radios and cheers He longed to sail deep blue sea, (which won't be as dry as his humor, I fear). We had a blonde bombshell in that class, Who used to lead our cheers Who liked to laugh, to flirt, and tease; Judy Eckhardt, the name of that dear. Atlas Jolly--Buddy to us, had a girl for each day of the week, He was on the ball--could handle it too; Was there to tease like a streak. Hazel McQueen had brother's galore; Friendliness was her middle name A twinkle was caught in her eye; She mad reporting a game. Guess who kept the town awake, With a cycle as speedy as he, Terry Mitchell--of course, another A stringer, A tease; that fits him to a T! The farm expert was one John Sakala, Whose practibility spelled success, Blonde hair, blue eyes, a solid man, The soil was his happiness. Another one who led our cheers, and gave the guys a whirl; Could make the world a brighter place, Was Sharlene Trojanovich, our girl! Stan Phillips, the man to make us smile; His jokes were the life of each day; a V. P. , an aspiring mechanic, playboy, were marks along Herk's way. Natalie Volosin was the perky, pert one Who could talk a mile a minute; A sweetheart queen, she reigned 'or all, She brought a smile to the world and those in it. The soda jerk was Laura Greenwood, Who brushed her teeth twice a day, to keep away yellow and maybe bad breath, But mostly to keep decay germs at bay. Then was the President of S. A. P. Stan Skaggs talked and made sense; (at least he did to his girl and his horse) This future vet won't straddle the fence. Another horseman in the class, Caused a flutter in many gal's dreams There was quite a havoc in basketball, too When Danny Aubuchon was in charge of the scenes. Mr. Dick Ullom sponsored us through four years of torture for him; His first and his worst was the title for us, Quoted Finally, I'm rid of them. So ends a tale of winners Full of fun and vigor and vim And I'm sure you'll agree, It's not hard to see Their example won't ever grow dim. « V Tommy Blasingame Marilyn Fosha Hazel Fox Carol Eurich Junior Class David Glaser Marilyn Harvey Harvey Sproch Harlan Sproch Cora Jean Townley Diana Trojanovich Sandra Trojanovich Laura Mae Zajac LIBRARY Bonnie Blasingame Lillie Chapman Polly Kelly Buddy Parks Peggy Butler Dennis Carter Dennis Corder Dwain Butler Richard Doven SOPHOMORE CLASS Karen Hlatki Jean Eurich Dorothy Kobilan Vernon Patrick Peggy Kucerik Mike Ryan Roger Mikita Richie Simmons Linda Kanuch P.
