Publishing the first yearbook since 1971 proved to be quite a task for the staff of the El Rodeo 1977. With only a short time to put the book together, the members of the staff and I spent many hard hours. Within the short amount of time and limited experience, we designed layouts, shot and developed pictures, and coordinated the senior photo sessions. We are now on our feet and next year we plan to in- clude more ASl-sponsored events and clubs in the year- book. It has been a rewarding experience to serve you as ASI President. Finance Committee is comprised of two representatives from each of the seven schools. In addition to the school representatives the committee is strengthened by the ASI President, a Representative from the Dean of Student Affairs. Director of University Business Affairs. ASI Business Manager and Finance Chairperson. Finance Committee makes recommendations to the Student Affairs Council on a budget that exceeds $800,000 annually. The Associated Students, Inc. is the non-profit organization to which all students at Cal Poly belong. Each year a total of $20 is paid by each member-student for the purpose of financing various activities and services which operate for the benefit of the Associated Students. In- corporated. To administer these programs, a system of student government was established. The ad- ministration of this system is composed of four major administrative bodies which include the Student Affairs Council, Program Council. Administrative Council. Academic Council, and the various regulatory boards. There are seven school councils and eight regulatory boards. The membership of these bodies consist of smaller committees or clubs. The effect of the overall system is to allow input from the grassroots level to be made known at the highest administrative level of the ASI. The Student Affairs Council is the board of directors for the corporation (i.e.. Associated Students, Inc.). It also has the unique dual role of acting as a liaison with the University administration as well as acting as the legislative body of student government. Its duties include ultimate respon- sibility for the transactions and decisions of ASI. STUDENT AFFAIRS COUNCIL FINANCE 6
