Finance Committee is comprised of two representatives from each of the seven schools. In addition to the school representatives the committee is strengthened by the ASI President, a Representative from the Dean of Student Affairs. Director of University Business Affairs. ASI Business Manager and Finance Chairperson. Finance Committee makes recommendations to the Student Affairs Council on a budget that exceeds $800,000 annually. The Associated Students, Inc. is the non-profit organization to which all students at Cal Poly belong. Each year a total of $20 is paid by each member-student for the purpose of financing various activities and services which operate for the benefit of the Associated Students. In- corporated. To administer these programs, a system of student government was established. The ad- ministration of this system is composed of four major administrative bodies which include the Student Affairs Council, Program Council. Administrative Council. Academic Council, and the various regulatory boards. There are seven school councils and eight regulatory boards. The membership of these bodies consist of smaller committees or clubs. The effect of the overall system is to allow input from the grassroots level to be made known at the highest administrative level of the ASI. The Student Affairs Council is the board of directors for the corporation (i.e.. Associated Students, Inc.). It also has the unique dual role of acting as a liaison with the University administration as well as acting as the legislative body of student government. Student Executive Cabinet The Student Executive Cabinet (SEC) is a branch of the ASI governmental structure that oversees the operations of programming of the campus organizations and boards. It is part of the executive portion and as such makes recommendations to the ASI President and the Student Af- fairs Council. In addition, it has the power to direct the ASI President to veto any legislation passed by SAC. as well as authority over the scheduling of all ASI events. Its membership consists of the ASI President. ASI Vice-President. ASI Secretary, Chairpersons of the Board of Athletic Control, Program Board. Music Board of Control. Publisher's Board. Poly Royal Board. Week of Welcome Board. Rose Float. Homecoming. Ethnic Programming Board, Women's Athletic Board. Intramurals. Rally Com- mittee. and the seven school councils. Under the new ASI By-law revisions, this body will become the Program Council and the three new reps will be added. They are the Panhellenic, Inter- Fraternity Council, and Human Growth and Understanding Committee. President’s Administrative Cabinet The President Administrative Cabinet (PAC) is a recommending body of the ASI which is a portion of the executive branch of student government. The body consists of ASI officers, the ap- pointment of the ASI President to University Wide Committees and Ad Hoc Committees set up by the President of the University, the voting representatives of the ASI on the Academic Senate and its various committees, appointments of the ASI President to various committees of the Foun- dation, and several non-voting members which may include the University President, and Academic Senate Representative, and the Director of ASI Activities. Duties of the cabinet are to advise the AS! President on academic and administrative matters; make recommendations to the Student Affairs Council and advise the ASI of its com- mittee work and progress. Under the new ASI By-law revisions this body will be replaced by two smaller bodies known as the Academic Council and Administrative Council. 7 j
