One of the most exciting groups in College Union is the Public Relations and Publicity Com- mittee. Their job is to advertise the College Union program and they do it by making posters, arranging photographic displays, writing newspaper articles, arranging radio and TV publicity, and promoting advertising stunts. The Personnel Committee aids committees in orienting new members to the College Union program. The Outings Committee is in charge of organizing all outdoor campus activities and field trips. To enable the students to enjoy their trips and activities is the goal of this Outings Com- mittee. Poly Royal is a busy time on campus and the Poly Royal Board has the responsibility of organizing and coordinating all activities. These activities include queen selection, departmental displays, dances, carnival, and the inter-collegiate rodeo. Welcome Week, an important part of Cal Poly life, gives new students a chance to get a head start in college work and student life by acquainting them with the College s educational offer- ings, its staff, activities, and philosophy. Welcome Week is sponsored by the Associated Student Body and the Student Personnel Division, and is divided into two phases. One is a camp program, run by a bunch of jolly nuts called Camp Counselors, and the other is a campus program. They occur simultaneously.
