CHERISH The homecoming celebration began on an exotic note, as the Centurions came out in their Hawaiian wear Thursday. On Friday the students sported burgundy and white to show support for their teams. That night the volleyball team lost to Burwell but the football team came out ahead against the Longhorns. Saturday evening the 1985 Homecoming dance was held. Dave Bell and Jenny Reynolds were crowned by former royalty Carl Kinkade and Michele Trumler. First and second runner ups were Gary Kiser and Winona Heinzman; Joel McDowell and Michelle O’Neil. Nicholas Christensen and Monica McDonald were crown bearers. The royal court danced to the theme song “Cherish.” Following the coronation the students danced to music from the Music Doctors. HARVEST OF HARMONY The 1986 Harvest of Harmony Parade was held on October 5th this year. The band chose Winona Heinzman to represent Centura in the competition for Harvest of Harmony Queen. The day began with interviews for all the candidates. The top ten finalists were chosen after all of the interviews had been completed. Among those chosen was our candidate, Winona. The rest of.the day was filled with fun, and that evening, at the banquet, the first and second runner’s-up and Queen were chosen. The next day was the parade with over two hundred bands and floats participating. Although it was cold, spirits remained high as Winona led the Marching Centurions through downtown Grand Island. MISS CENTURA: Winona Heinzman
