Physical Education By engaging in Physical Education classes girls become healthier, better coordinated, and more physically fit. Emphasis is placed on individual sports as well as team and dual activities. Included in the year's work are units on hockey, soccer, basketball, volleyball, tumbling, softball, archery, badminton, tennis, and dancing. Recreational activities are taught to both boys and girls to provide students with sports knowledge which will carry over into adult life. A typical boys gym class begins with roll call, followed by a brief period of calisthentics, and concludes with the sport or activity being studied. Class activities include soccer, touch football, tumbling, apparatus, basketball, volleyball, softball, and various recreational sports. Intramural sports are provided for boys and girls with teams signing up by homerooms to play. Co- recreational sports and intramurals round out the pro- gram. Balance and coordination are demonstrated as Billy Hertz holds Hayden Cuthrell. John Barrett and Bob Reardon are spotters.
