Bety Pugh, James Fillion, and Sandy Ferri look on as the Spani Language The Latin banquet is presented annually hy the Latin II students in honor of the first year Latin students, parents, and faculty members. The occasion is always a gala affair complete with stolas and togas, as well as Roman food fit for a king. Y, -. L LY. sh teacher, Mrs. Abraham, explains the Spanish calendar. With occasional reports in hthe most flowery language Spanish students absorbed the information contained in their texthook El Camino Real. Class periods were conducted primarily through the direct method, making the ahility to speak and understand Spanish a must for juniors and seniors enrolled in Spanish l and Spanish ll. Mrs. ,loan Abraham Mrs. Rita Ryan Smith College Washington College Latin took on an added significance to the incoming Latin I students when they learned that many English words are huilt on Latin roots. The more advanced Latin II students struggled through Julius Caesar and The Twelve Lahors of Hercules.
