Basketball The 1935-36 basketball season, considered from the games won and lost standpoint, was quite unsuccessful. Our lack of success was not completely due to the inability of the team. Traveling seventy-five miles to play a game tires the team out considerably. During the season the squad travelled a total of some 1,800 miles. Playing on a strange floor on which only a ten minute practice is allowed is also disheartening to the players. As far as genuine sport and enjoyment received from participation in the game, the season was entirely successful. At the beginning of the season the boys were all pepped up for a good season for they had a team of five men who were lettermen the previous year. The first game, which was a win over Reed City, strengthened the hope of a successful season. Defeats by Lake City, Big Rapids, Traverse City, Alpena and Petoskey, disheartened the squad somewhat but they never stopped playing their hardest. A win over Evart bolstered up the spirit of the squad, but further defeats at the hands of the Ludington, Manistee, Petoskey, Manistee, Traverse City, Mount Pleasant and Ludington cagers left the Cadillac Vikings at the bottom of the Big Six Conference race. However, it can be said that this team, of beaten but never broken basketball players, was never met lightly on the basketball court. Every other team that played them was forced to play the best game it was capable of playing in order to come out with even a three or four point lead. It can be said also that even though the Vikings were beaten in almost every encounter only once were they very heavily outscored. That defeat was by the Champion Ludington Orioles.

Kenneth Harrow, Alfred Hackstedt, Mr. Harris, Advisor. Blue and Gold Newspaper Staff The Blue and Gold newspaper has appeared every two weeks in the Cadillac Evening News. The publication has received very favorable comment because of its contents and its true journalistic style. Lee Spitler served as Editor-in-Chief until January. After his resignation the Junior and Senior members of the Staff took turns as editor. This proved very successful due to the co-operation of the staff members, the advisor, and the Cadillac Evening News.
