Mission of the CACAPO CACAPON is specifically charged with providing complete replenishment of bulk petroleum products and selected items of deck cargo to other ships while steaming atsea. She carries three types of bulk liquid petroleum products in her tanks: Naby Special Fuel Oil fNSFOj which ships burn in their boilers: Jet Fuel UP-51 for' jet aircraft use: and Aviation Gasoline KAVGASI for propeller driven aircraft use Deck cargo is varied b ' ' . . , ut always includes. drummed lubricants and bottled cases such as aviation oxygen, nitrogen, helium, carbon dioxide, acetylene, and freon. Logistic support to ships of the Pacific Fleet is the mission of the CACAPON and she knows her mission well.

LCDR W E. McLaine 'A Executive Officer LCDR McLaine was commissioned in March of 1958, and began his naval service in the Weapons Department ofthe USS FINCH IDER-3281. He left the service in 1960 for a short period of time, but returned in 1961 serving on the USS WALTON KDE-3611. Here he carried out his duties as Anti-Submarine Weapons Officer, and also served as Executive Officer for three months. Fwm 1962 until 1964, LCDR McLaine served as Communications Officer on board the USS EL DORADO KAGC-111. Upon completion of his sea duty, he reported to the Fleet AntifSubmarine Warfare School, here in the billet as instructor in AntiPSubmarine Weapons. In 1966, LCDR McLaine assumed staff duties with Anti-Submarine Warfare Group One. Here he served' as Staff Communications Officer' until 1968. Orders to Vietnam were received by LCDR McLaine in 1969. Here he served as Communi- cations Advisor to the Vietnamese. His tour with the Military Advisory Command lasted until 1970. In May of 1970 LCDR McLaine assumed his present duty as Executive Officer of CACAPON,
