FOOTBALL 1957 Powerful. fast. and agile are the ad- jectives whieh descrilie the l957 Byrd High Yellow Jackets. The Jackets rolled to decisive victories over their first four opponents before falling victims to per- haps the two strongest teams in the state, lstrouma and Baton Rouge. Coming back strong in their next three outings, they defeated Ouachita, Bastrop, and Spring- hill. The victories over West Monroe and Ouachita enahled the Jackets to meet the Fair Park Indians on Thanksgiving Day to decide the lAAA District Champion- ship. The Yellow Jackets met a tribe of inspired Indians who did everything right. Although the Jackets outrushed the Indians they came out on the short end of a 12-7 score. Thus we finished the season with a 7 and 3 record. 1957 TARTI G ELEVE Line: Joe Zaffater. Hartie Spence, Merritt Chastain, Robert Shemwe-ll, Larry Ramhin. Bohhy Hamm, Murray Johnston.
