Girls' volleyball met with success this year in both J.V. and Varsity competition. The J.V. team was able to compile a perfect 10-0 record for the second year in a row. For the varsity, an 11-2 record overall wasn't perfect, but their 7-0 conference performance was. Unfortunately, the girls were unable to advance past the semi-finals in the conference meet. Johnson, C. Spink, K. Violet. Although this was the first year that Byron actually had a solid fresh-soph wrestling team, the young matmen won more matches than they lost. Two outstanding individuals in fresh-soph action were freshmen Frank Johnson and Dan Wilmarth. At 119 pounds, Johnson won 12, lost 5, and tied 1 of his 18 matches. Wil- marth, 126 pounds, compiled a 12-6-0 record. Next year we will lose many wrestlers to the varsity level, but we are expecting an even stronger team be- cause of junior high training. 21
