April 22 was the date and Byng Elementary was the place. For what? For the Oklahoma Land Run Celebration of course! Second through fifth grades participated in the annual even by dressing up like pioneers and rushing to claim their piece of land. One participant was heard to exclaim, The sooner the better. They gave their first perfomance in December with a Christmas Concert. On April 23, they entered the Wetumka Band Festival and made the rating of superior. On May 7, they traveled to Arbuckle Wilderness for the Arbuckle Band Festival and made the rating of superior and was the outstanding band in their class. The band concluded the year with a spring concert on May 12. The 5th grade concert band worked extremely hard and did a super job this year.
