Then Cha os Again! Don needs to get that copy written. Marcus, have you finished that layout yet? Greg, please don 't make me ask again, just go out and get that picture! WE 'RE NEVER GONNA MEET THIS DEADLINE! Headaches, sleepless nights, bald spots on heads, and fistfuls of hair - such things are familiar to editors. Fortunately for me, I share stress with my co-editor, Dana Sayre. Although having two editors does not alleviate the pressure, the good part is that if our yearbook flops, theres someone else to blame it on! Dana and I were experiencing the previously-mentioned sgns of stress when we realized that our first deadline was a week away and one whole sgnature I 16 pafesj was not even done. Now Dana and I are rather level -headed girlsg we know how to handle pressure - we panic, We really panicked when we found our color dead ine upon us. What are we going to do? we whinned. We presented the problem to our staff and some idiot suggested a lock-in on Friday night to complete our pages. Seeing no altemative, we agreed. At that time neither Dana nor I had a date for Friday night. We are editors loyal to our staff our advisor, and to the cause of Byng 's best-ever yearbook. When we got an invitation to go on a date Friday night, our priorities were firmly in place. We had no problem reaching a decision on where to spend the early part of the evening. We had a really good time with our dates Friday nghg and at about midnight we dragged ourselves into the yearbook lock-in. Amidst cries of Where have you been?'1 'ISO glad our editors could make it! and other sarcastic remarks, we settled into work. After staring at the one sentence I had written an hour ago and realizing that the Sprite I 'd been drinking was caffeine-Hee, I grabbed someone's blanket and tmdged back to the storeroom. My Ezithful co-editor had already preceded me and was slumped zombie-like in a chair. I curled up on a few boxes and fell asleep. I awoke an our later to find my nose moussed up. I complained loudly and made scathing remarks about immaturity, but nobody admitted wielding the mousse can. I went back to work and worked dilgently for four straght hours. Layouts were designed, copy was written, and pic- tures were printed. By 6 a.m. we lacked taking only one picture and writing one article. As the sun rose that Saturday moming, so did our spirits. Deciding we 'd worked hard enough, some staff members left, some sacked out, and Dana and I breathed a sigh of relief We had lived through the nght and actually accom- plished something. So, that was the unprecedented yearbook all-nighter which occurred last weekend. Deadline is now three days away. Today our dear advisor, Mary Willis, suggested we change pages sur and seven. Now we must take, develop, and print more pictures, write more copy and draw other layouts. Robby, can you get starred on this layout? 'Eric, please process that film. Candace, will you write those captions? HOW ARE WE EVER GOING TO MEET THIS DEADLINE??? Dana and I scream in unified exaspera- tion as our first emerge from our skulls with yet another tuft of hair. Top left, You can tell by Karen Wheelers smile that she enjoys working on yearbook! Bottom left, Marcus Nelson seems to have a question for Mrs. Willis while Eric Atwood is hard at work. Right, Robby Lee pretends to be a photographer.
