Dvd Zvzfia We wish to dedicate this 1953 edition of the PIRATE LOG to those who have made it possible for us to occupy this modern new school building. We, as present students of Butte High, and our posterity extend our most sincere gratitude to our superintendent, Mr. Irvin W. Spencer, to the mem- bers of our school board, Nonda Merrill, Byron Sherman, Charles O'Maley, Harry P. Pearson, and Jack McAffee, to the former board members, Frans Yorgensen, Emmett Richeson and Mildred Braithwaite, and to all the tax paying citizens of Butte County. For many months we witnessed Mr. Spencer, the board members and other citizens, in their untiring efforts to make their dreams and ours, of a new school, become a reality. Perhaps we, as students, sometimes neglect to show our appreciation for the numerous deeds our parents, faculty, and towns-people do forius. How- ever, during the past year each of us have worked toward one specific goal. This goal inspired by Mr. Spencer and our principal, Mr. C. E. McBride, has been to become all around better citizens in our school and community. Our dream of a modern school has been awakened with reality and our goal is one we will continue to strive for throughout the years.
