C UXS-fL i? rr C ■ 2- 3 O icest eviz 'usTi COMMANDER GARRY R. HALL Commander Garry R. Hall was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on 12 February 1947. He attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute where he earned a Bachelor of Sci- ence Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the U.S. Navy upon graduation and was commissioned 12 March 1971 after completing Officer Candidate School at Newport, Rhode Island. Commander Hall’s first assignment was in USS GRANT COUNTY (LST 1174) as Damage Control Assistant and Main Propulsion Assistant. He was then assigned to the commissioning crew as Damage Control Assistant in USS MILLER (FF 1091). Commander Hall then completed Postgraduate Education at the Massa- chusetts Institute of Technology earning a Master of Science Degree in Ocean Engi- neering and Mechanical Engineering. His subsequent sea tours were as Chief Engi- neer in USS AINSWORTH (FF 1090), First Lieutenant in USS SPIEGEL GROVE (LSD 32), and as Executive Officer in USS MERRIMACK (AO 179). Additionally, Commander Hall has served ashore as Officer in Charge of Naval Sur- face Force Atlantic Fleet Engineering Mobile Training Team, Norfolk, Virginia and at Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters in Washington, DC. Commander Hall’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Com- mendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation. He is married to the former Susan Reed Frye of Alexandria, Virginia. They have three children; daughters Michele and Cynthia and a son, Michael. FRANK Lieutenant Commander Richard Fred- erick Frank was born in Washington, D.C. on July 22,1955. He grew up in the Washington metropolitan area and attended Archbishop John Carroll High School. He received an ap- pointment to the U.S. Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduation, he was assigned to USS ILLU- SIVE (MSO 448) as Damage Control Assis- tant. Other sea tours have included First Lieutenant and Gunnery Assistant in USS MACDONOUGH (DDG 39), Weapons Of- ficer in USS PATTERSON (FF 1061) and Combat Systems Officer in USS BIDDLE (CG 34). Shore tours have included seaman- ship instructor at the Naval Academy and student at the Naval War College. Lieutenant Commander Frank is mar- ried to the former Cathy Ann Corcoran of Mount Vernon, Virginia. They have one daughter.
