Spring Concert Lovely soft strains of music filled the auditorium on May 13, 14 and 15, 1954. The combined choral groups, under the direction of Miss Lafferty, opened the first part of the program with I Hear America Singing. The floral decorated stage and a colorful array of pastel gowns introduced a beautiful opening presentation. Jane Dilzer, soprano, was the solo- ist for the evening, and sang Ich Liebe Dich and Musetta's Waltz Song from La Boheme. Mr. Harris conducted the concert band in the second part of the pro- gram. Their most descriptive opus of the evening was the novelty Night Beat which combined sounds of the city. The Saturday night audience witnessed the first playing of our Alma Mater by the Butler Band. It was arranged by Mr. Harris and dedi- cated to his family. The music groups started to learn selected compositions in January to prepare them for the big event in the spring. Combined vocal and instru- mental groups rose to emotional heights with Victor Herbert Favor- ites and Hymn of Praise, conclud- ing another annual Spring Concert. Accompanists Ed Fred- ericlcs and Gerard Pisani and Mr. Harris and Miss Ldfferty p a us e during intermission. Meditation from Thais fluted by Elaine Ringle and Lois Tintle. Jane Dilzer listens with us to t-he boys' chorus. 99
