All tardy or late students must present their excuses to him, and he decides if these are acceptable. Attendance clerk Mrs. Mildred Gates and attendance officer Mrs. Ada Wick help him to maintain a fine attendance record. This year his position has been made a twelve month's job. The additional duty of being treasurer of the high school activities fund, which means that all money for student activities must be checked by him, has been given to him. Some of his other duties are sending statistical reports on attendance to Harris- burg, making home room and schedule assignments for new students, and supervising the formation of new clubs in the school. Mr. Moore is at present taking a course at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Guy N. Harriger, Director of Curriculum and Supervision in Secondary Schools, assumed additional duties this year in becoming acting principalduring Dr. Bean's absence. As such he is not only responsible for his usual work, curriculum improvement and en- richment in secondary schools, but also for the admin- istration of senior high school. Summer school super- vision, the organization of new courses and selecting new textbooks are some of the many things with which his time is occupied. Dr. Harrig'r is a member of the Planning Commission of the Pennsylvania State Education Association, a group which consists of dis- tinguished educators, and he is a state delegate of this organization to the National Convention. In addition, he claims membership in several other educational so- cieties. On Saturdays, Dr. Harriger also teaches a graduate course in education at Westminster College. 21 GUY N. HARRIGER
