planned scliool stisfem, Di. Qnbeason out gupefzinfendenf, Dr. John D. Anderson, superintendent of Butler City Schools, has his office located in the Senior High School building. From here, he and his assistants keep the school system running smoothly and efficiently. Within his files are records of the city school budget, school taxes, and birth certificates. Students desiring working papers acquire them through the superinten- dent,s office. One of Dr. Anderson's biggest tasks is to assist the Board of Education in the selection of per- sonnel to fill the teaching positions for both the sec- ondary and elementary schools. He provides inform- ation needed in selecting employees, both professional and nonprofessional, to the board members and carries out the policies adopted by the Board of Education. In addition he is responsible for seeing that the various phases of the school program are conducted in ac- cordance with the requirements of the School Code. Dr. Anderson is active in community affairs, and he feels that one of his greatest responsibilities is inter- preting the school program to the public. JOHN D. ANDERSON Mimeograph copies, letters, books, and general office work leave ne'er an idle moment in the superintendents office, as Miss Moore, Miss McGuire, and Miss Grossi can testify. 19
