The Lantern The Lantern is the student newspaper published weekly at BCCJC. Editors John Reinhart and Jim Cobb, assisted by an efficient staff and advised by Bill Bidwell, reported the news, critiqued plays, books, and records, and recorded and photographed the campus events of the year. Twenty-one staff members were honored at the fifth annual journalism banquet held in December. Nursing Department Increases Staff Strenuous study and hard work enabled the nursing stu- dents to perform well in spite of many miles of commuting to hospital facilities in Newton and Wichita, as well as in El Dorado. The addition of two staff members, Janet Bahr and Mi- chael Goodwin, enhanced the offering of the department. Students received clinical in- struction from surgeons, learned laboratory procedures from leading technicians, and acquired specialized help in practical medicine from expe- rienced members in the medi- cal field.
