Campus Growth was recognized with an address by Gover- nor Avery, followed by an open house to the public on October 2, 1966. Butler County Community Junior College was the first county college in the state of Kansas. Construction work on the campus began in February of 1966, and continued until the summer of 1967, at which time the total campus was complete. t v. Ten Years of Butler County Community Junior College celebrated its tenth anniversary in October, 1973. The occasion was commemorated by various events involving students, faculty, and staff. The members of the Board of Trustees hosted a reception for the members of the faculty and staff. The school newspaper, THE LANTERN, published a special 20-page edi- tion for the occasion.
