Orientation Orientation was an innovative program for the junior college freshmen this year. Students participated in a two-day series of events that acquainted them with college life, introduced them to members of the faculty, helped them to located campus areas, and enabled them to make new friends more readily. At right freshmen take an English aptitude test in the cafeteria; below left, students experience mock class schedules; below right, students keep time to rock music; bottom, students reassemble for closing session. As a result of their efforts each freshman received an hour of credit and completed their final enrollment. Approxi- mately 422 students qualified for the credit hour. Next year ' s ori- entation will be greatly improved because of the opinions voiced by this year ' s freshmen. % «

Marketing Technology Last fall an experimental program in Marketing Technology was started. The Butler County Communi- ty Junior College program closely resembles the stand- ard Distributive Education program; yet there is a pur- pose in mind: to provide not only a comprehensive training but also to offer a specialized, on-the-job train- ing experience. Each student has a structured program designed for him as a individual developed in his own interests. The curriculum consists of approximately 19 hours of busi- ness education, 12 hours in marketing and distributing and 14 hours in a technical and special field area. In addition to his regular college curriculum, the student must maintain an actual job in his area of study, for actual work experience of 1 5 hours . The new program this year is truly an advancement for the individual student. Marketing Technology helps the individual to develop maturity and become part of the community and an active participant in the partner- ship of education and industry. Harold Harmon and Jim Edwards attempt to find answers in relationships of people for their consuming projects. 22 Campus Life Shana Lewis and Margaret Chapman refer to salemanship material to prove that women are capable in the business world, too.
