One- Act Plays Sweet Betsy from Pike . The one-act plays were directed by sophomores to give them experience in the field of theater. The plays given were To Burn a Witch, directed by Maurita Deines; The Informer, directed by Richard Martindale; and Sweet Betsy from Pike, directed by Jan Mountz. Amahl Wk ' I Amahl greets night vistors. The music and drama departments under the direc- tion of Mr. Thomas Dixon and Mr. Darryl Patten combined efforts to stage the fourth annual produc- tion of the one-act opera, Amahl and the Night Vis- tors. Amahl was played by David Clarkson, and Mrs. Edwin Clarkson portrayed his mother. The kings were Gordon Dolton, Darryl Claassen, and Vernon Peterson. The page was Keith Neill. Members of the chorus served as the shepherds. AmahPs mother reaches for gold. Casper tells Amahl about his magic box. Mother scolds Amahl for lying. Shepherds entertain the kings. Campus Life 19
