Students contemplate teaching The Student Kansas State Teachers Association was first organized at EJC in April of 1953 as the Paul Hawkins Chapter of the Future Teachers of America. The name was changed to the present form in 1958. The purpose of this organi- zation is to provide an opportunity for college students contemplating entering the teaching profession to become better acquainted with the requirements, problems, and compensations of the profession. This organization sponsors speakers, films, and other types of informative programs. It also seeks to encourage high school students within the county to affiliate with student teachers ' organizations. 25
