The El Dorado Grizzlies finished out the 1956 season with undisputed possession of second place in the Juco League. They had a league record of six wins and two losses, and an overall record of eight wins and two losses. The team was again coached by Bob Douglass assisted by John Reed. Al- though crippled by numerous injuries, the 1956 Grizzly team will be remembered for their impressive record and fighting courage. The Grizzlies began the season with three impressive victories over Fort Scott, Parsons and Dodge City. The fol- lowing week they met Coffeyville on the home field; in this game the Grizzlies were overpowered by sheer numbers and lost 13 - 6. The Grizzlies came back strong, winning from Ark City, Fairbury, Nebraska and Independence. The following week Garden City pulled off possibly the biggest upset of the season when they won from the Grizzlies 21 - 6. The Grizzlies then bounced back and beat Hutchinson 13 - 12. They then finished out the season beating Pratt. OPP.
