4 SENIOR YEAR Book
care only for the glory. They not only are not willing to put forth the patient effort
which made that glory possible, but they have no true understanding of real effort.
They are superficial thinkers, word jugglers. Number yourselves not among them. Try
to become, by reason of quiet, patient effort, truly effective. You will find greater
joy eventually in so doing, greater accomplishment and greater respect among your
fellows than by any spectacular and speedy attempt ro secure recognition. Do not
be one who "steps on the gas", interested only in the noise he makes and the com-
motion he creates. Rather be one who conceives a worthy objective and then uses
every honorable method of achieving it. You will have no time in so doing to
bother or care about what the world thinks of you, but when you have accomplished
your objective the world will think a great deal of you and every one will be proud.
