The veil which covers the future Is lifted ever so slowly. One day at a time is revealed to us. Perhaps it’s for the best. If we knew what were coming Some might not wish to continue. The conundrum that is life Bewitches us daily. Life is indeed for the living, And opportunities must be siezed. Until tomorrow, then I will rest Assured that this is all worthwhile. For then the question that was today Will be yesterday and clear. Our limited vision from hindsight Is infinitely, more accurate, though less challenging. And so tomorrow remains And stretches out, bewildering our minds. The puzzle that is life Will never be revealed fully. But we must live each day As if it were our last. Only then will the pieces fit together, At least in some semblance of order. M.J. DINNEEN A Puzzle Begins With One Piece Fulfilling Goals, Building Dreams Reflections . . . In these busy times when everyone seems to be trying to get ahead in a world moving ever so fast, there are few individuals who will take the time to share with others. When we find these special people, they are to be cherished. Without people like him, the puzzle, life, becomes superficial, meaningless, and empty. The class of 1981 salutes Mr. George Masters. Thank you for your time, guidance and concern. Who Me??? •k ' Standing: Martin Levin, Barbara Steiner, James E. Jefferson, John E. Queenan Seated: C. Joseph Martin, Stella C. Each of you has worked hard to make high school graduation a reality not only for yourself, but for your family and friends. Your teachers and administrators are justly proud of your efforts and your many achievements during your years at “City High School”. You have been prepared well to face life’s many chal- lenges. The Board joins me in wishing you well on this happy occasion and extend our best wishes for continued success in the years ahead. Sincerely yours, C. Joseph Martin, Superintendent Burlington City Public Schools Hobart Stecher Secretary Stella C. Laforsh President Thomas Venables Vice President Times are changing as they have never before, and as a result, there is a greater diversity of opin- ion as to how to meet these changes. Every re- source of thought must be uncovered to solve the many problems facing our country and the world. You, the Class of 1981, will be actively involved in the very near future, facing and solving these problems in order to live a healthy and happy life. It is up to each individual to obtain a sound prep- aration to meet and solve these very important issues with which we will be confronted during this decade. If we all work, serve, and give of ourselves, these changes and problems will be met and resolved. Congratulations to each and every one of you, and may success follow you always. Raymond A. Thanks For The Memories 1980 Sports Dinner I could have danced All Night” When we party, we party hearty! 35 Senior Sponsors And Officers James Geltch Richard J. Edge- President Debie Hoffman- Secretary Our Dedicatee- George Mas- ters Jeanie Jones- Treasurer 1981’s Class Leaders Michelle Tancredi- Vice-president Experiences Never To Be Forgotten Joyce Hum pert- Exchange Student to West Germany As the exchange student, I spent last sum- mer living with a family in West Germany. This two month period enabled me to see much of Northern Germany and Denmark as well. I became familiar with their language, their lifestyle, and their viewpoints on issues in such a way that I never would have imag- ined possible. Not only did I become better acquainted with a foreign nation, but with my own country and myself as well. I learned to look at things objectively, and to keep an open mind. I became more independent and gained self-confidence. It was truly an exper- ience of great significance, one that I will never forget. Joyce A. Humpert Taina Roine- Exchange student from Finland Coming to America has been one of the most exciting and educational experiences of my life. Everyone has been most cooperative in making my stay here comfortable and the transitions smooth. Living in America during a time of international crisis (hostages in Iran) has taught me a great deal about that sense of pride and patriotism felt in the heart of America. Seeing it in action was simply incredible! It makes the theme of this edition of the Heirloom even more relevant to me because the more I learn and the more I see, the better I understand just how the pieces fit together. I thank all of you for that. I will never forget BCHS. It will remain an ever so vivid memory .... my home away from home. Taina Roine Family, Sharing, Friendship and Love are only a few of the elements of that puzzle, called life. They join in several places . . . connecting, forming, limitless patterns each different and unique. Their sizes are immeasurable, their shapes are incompre- hensible and the possession of merely one, is invaluable. And so, the puzzle develops as we mature, realize, and accept these elements that makes each of us know who we are, under- stand where we’ve been, and determine in which direction we shall go. B.J. By signing up now and waiting up to 365 days to report, you can select the skill train- ing that most appeals to you. If you want to learn communications, for instance, waiting a few months could re- ward you with an opportunity that doesn’t exist today.
