TABLE OF CONTENTS DEDICATION............4 FACULTY ..............6 SENIORS..............30 UNDERCLASSMEN......70 SPORTS........... . .83 CLUBS...............102 ACTIVITIES..........113 ADVERTISEMENTS .... 121 TO DENNIS CORBETT from the class of 1974 A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. Henry Adams A dedicated and hard-working sponsor is vital to the success of any high school class. The class of 1974 proved to be extremely for- tunate in having such a man. Teaching us such invaluable courses as English II, Creative Writ- ing, and Advanced Composition, he helped us to better understand and appreciate these subjects by making learning a pleasure rather than a chore. His help is given just as earnestly outside the classroom. He has given his energy and talent as coach of our Freshman Baseball Team. In addition, he served as advisor to last year’s Heirloom, patiently guiding us in our endeavor. However, he proved to be more than a sponsor, teacher, coach, and advisor. Throughout our years at B.C.H.S., he has proven him- self to be a valued and trusted friend. Thank you, Mr. Dennis Corbett, for your help and friendship. 5 Mr. Robert Dotti Superintendent of Schools Board of Education BOARD OF EDUCATION: (Left to right): Mr. Robert Dotti, Mr. H. Stecher, Mr. W. Page, Mr. F. Severi, Mrs. S. LaForsh, Mr. J. Jefferson, and Mr. J. Queenan. Mr. Costello — Principal Attitude” may be defined as, position, or manner, with regard to a person or thing.” For some time the attitude of many Americans has been that in order for a person to be respected, and considered a contributing member of society, he or she had to try to obtain a college degree. We, as a Nation, have not valued enough all forms of honest labor. We are wrong if we make any young man or woman feel less worthy because he, or she, prefers to become a skilled worker rather than a college graduate. You, the Class of 1974, keep this in mind as you leave high school and step into the world of adult responsibilities. America has always needed educated and skilled people to per- mit our society to move forward, and this need has become more urgent in the complex, technological age in which we are now liv- ing. Research studies have indicated that eighty per cent of our population never obtain a college degree, and that eight out of ten jobs will not require a college degree. These conclusions demon- strate that we must give more thought and attention to better vocational and technical training for our citizens. At the same time, we must continue to offer a strong foundation of academic studies needed by those individuals who choose careers requiring higher education. You, and the classes to follow, will be confronted with a num- ber of serious problems in the areas of energy, fuel, ecology, and population. These problems must be met, and means found to resolve them, if society as we have known it is to survive and progress. We must all work together, the college graduates, the vocational and technical school graduates, and the skilled work- ers; all receiving the proper respect for the contributions which each group makes to our lives. My sincere congratulations and good wishes to the members of the Class of 1974. 9 Administra tion Mr. Burr Mr. Albano Mr. Moore Mr. Cunningham Guidance Miss Newkirk Mr. Fields Mrs. Foster Miss Clawges Mrs. Baldorossi Mrs. Schmidt Mrs. Stoll Mrs. Wallen 12 Secretaries CAFETERIA STAFF: Mrs. Warren, Mrs. Kovacs, Mrs. Manes, Mrs. Staravoj, Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Cameron. Through the past four years they continued to persevere, although many times our class was lacking in enthusiasm and stamina. Our only hope is that they have benefited as much through working with us, as we have, by having such dependable advisors. Thank you all for seeing us through our years spent at Burlington City High School. The life of a soul on earth lasts beyond his departure. You will always feel that life touching yours, that voice speaking to you, that spirit looking out of other eyes, talking to you in the familiar things he touched, worked with, loved as familiar friends. He lives on in your life and in the lives of all others that knew him. Lord, To laugh, when victory’s mine . . . To laugh, if I should meet defeat Without a fret or whine . . . Give mo the grace to follow rules, To ’fess up when I’m wrrong. When silence or the other thing Wins plaudits from the throng . . . When foes are tough and fighting fierce And I am getting weak. Dear God, don’t ever let me show A broad, bright, yellow streak. And teach me. Lord, life’s game to play Just one day at a time . . . With Thee as coach and trainer. Lord, Real Victory must be mine. Rev. Frederick D.
