'Time it was, And what a time it was, It was . . . A time of innocence, A time of confidences. Long ago ... it must be . . . I have a photograph. Preserve your memories; They’re all that’s left you.” — Paul Simon ineteen Hundred Qeventy-one i FRIGHTFUUYG jrUNOIUN (OvH irmgg pcwsnKj.- No one teacher has influenced, encouraged, and aided the class of 71 quite as much as our dedicatee. From the grammar lessons in ninth grade English, to the enlightening discussions in senior World Literature, the members of our class have profited by each class pe- riod spent with our resident Irishman. His enthusiasm and understanding are reflected in the varied ways in which he presents his subject. His presence is felt just as strongly outside the class- room. He has employed his energy and talent in coach- ing both our cross-country and track teams. In addition, serving as advisor to this HEIRLOOM, he has guided us, patiently and willingly, throughout the year. The members of this class will not easily forget our tall and lanky friend. Because of his fairness and open- mindedness, he has commanded our respect and atten- tion. The class of 71 has chosen to dedicate its year- book to one who has helped create it, Mr. John McGo- vern. No worthier choice could have been made. Thanks, Mr. McGovern, for all your help!
