'DecUcatcoit An outstanding person who has had much in- fluence on the Class of '59 is our dedicatee, Mr. John Maher. Mr. Maher became a favorite with many of us as a teacher of American history. Since that time, we have been impressed by his casual manner and warm friendiness. We have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Aaher on many of our class projects as he is one of our class advisors. It is from this that we have witnessed the genuine interest that Mr. Maher takes in us. It is with sincere appreciation for the guidance and interest you have shown us that we dedicate the 1959 HEIRLOOM to you, Mr. John Maher.

Our four years in Burlington Senior High School can readily be compared with the making and pro- ducing of a television spectacular. Both require hard work, ingenuity, initiative, foresight, and planning. Each has a definite goal and climax— for us, graduation; for a spectacular, opening night. Our spectacular was produced under the aus- pices of our teachers, our counselors, our Heirloom staff, and our friends. The setting is B.S.H.S.; the time, 1955-1959 inclusive; the starring cast, the Class of '59. The prom, the dances, the games, and our plays are all star attractions of our spectacular. More im- portant, however, is the knowledge and under- standing that we have acquired through this un- dertaking. It is from this experience that our self- confidence, character, and ideals were developed. The stage is set, the actors are in their places, the house lights are dimmed. Our spectacular is about to begin! The capacity studio audience stirs restlessly as the viewers at home settle back into their favorite chairs. Slowly, ever so slowly, the curtain rises. Our fondest dreams have become a reality. We now invite you, the audience, to share these never-to-be-forgotten moments with us, the Class of '59.

OoCl The Board of Education is an administrative body organized for the purpose of seeing that the Bur- lington City schools are run efficiently. The Board is a vital part of our school program for it deter- mines the necessity of repairs and additional facili- ties, and regulates the financial affairs. The senior class, realizing the importance of a smoothly run school system for a good education, extends its appreciation to the Board members for the fine job they have consistently done.
