FOREWORD Sunny skies--perilous storms; breath-taking sunsets-- foreboding clouds; warm balmy breezes--sharp howlingwinds; placid rippling waters—turbulent angry seas. These conditions did we encounter on our four-year cruise. Fortunately, when the going was rough, our faith was restored by the soft silver lining which followed every rainbow. Naturally we inexperienced sailors of 1954 have become first class seamen, ready for graduation. Exploring the realms of mathematics, foreign languages, science, English, and his- tory, we have gained wisdom and have learned to think inde- pendently. Since we have met all kinds of people on deck and have made lasting friends, certainly our personalities have been developed and our lives have been enriched. The officers of our ship, our loyal, friendly teachers, have played a note- worthy part in guiding us safely into harbor. It is with happi- ness mingled with sadness that we herewith record our ex- periences in our ship’s log, the Heirloom. This is a book designed for the future. It will grow in value with the years, for there will come a time when we will turn nostalgically the pages which remind us of happy days. This is a history of a part of your life-a joyful part, which the Heir- loom, in years to come, will help you to relive. If the Heirloom can help to soften the break of friendships, to keep alive the love which we have in our heart for our school and the many things it represents, to remember kindly our dedicated teachers and the beloved admiral of the fleet Mr. Dotti, to brighten the faded memories of joyous times, its purpose will have been fulfilled.

Wr. W Wr,. JtarM St LtLS0ZK DEDICATION Although it as very unusual to have a husband-wife team on the faculty, it is even more unique to have a couple who are so highly regarded by the stu- dents. Their genuine heartfelt interest in young people has increased our sin- cere affection for them. Because of their enthusiastic leadership and untiring efforts, our junior play was a record success and our junior prom an unforgettable event. Pa- tiently guiding us in our everyday activities, they have given unselfishly of their time and energy and have thus been an example to us that hard work and determination pay off. Their cheerful encouragement and sympathetic under- standing of our many problems and needs have endeared them to us and have propelled us on to attain the highest ideals and goals in life. As we glide into port, thus ending our four-year cruise, we dedicate the Heirloom of 1958 to you, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stinson, two true friends whom we shall never forget.
