Page T W0 Foreword. . . As the 49'ers take the final step in graduation they have left behind them a score of memories. Three years ago the trail that led through BHS start- ed. First, even as the underclassmen, We took active part . . . the Sopho- more party . . . its king and queen . . . Student Council . . . athletic squads . . . music events . . . and our first Honor Point Banquet. ln our Iunior year even more chances to become a real necessity to the school were opened . . . the class play . . . journalism and debate activities . . . class officers and active club members. Our Senior year has brought us the success that all claim-stakers hope eventually to find . . . the mythical state football champs . . . Little Six and State track champs . . . awards in debate . . . top PSG ratings . . . Homecoming ceremonies . . . and above all, the National Honor Society, the Senior Banquet, Baccalaureate and our graduation. As a final fulfillment, we the staff of the l949 Pathfinder, print this book with the hope that these activities and many others can be kept alive through the years to come. Page Three Dedication. . The 1949 Pathfinder staff is honored to dedicate their yearbook to Mr. B. L. Hargitt who has been instructing BHS students for the last twenty-nine years, Coaching during his first year and later as an instructor, Mr. Hargitt has seen some of his graduate pupils take po- sitions as instructors in Burlington schools, beside him, In his spare time, Mr. Hargitt can often be seen on Burlington golf courses, either sinking a 12-foot putt or replacing the turf after a hard drive. His friendly manner has won him many friends around Burlington and his cooperating ways will always be remembered by the class of '49 a0,iL..L ljo'-L,
