IV. .lewvtp Ii. t'vIt1 B lam Qatlaall A rough, fast squad was Burlington's B foot- ball team, and several players were on it who will dehnitely add to next years first eleven. With a solid line and speedy bucks they played good ball even though the win and lost statistics aren't too impres- sive. The Kittens won two games while losing four and tieing one. Coach Ioe Day had them employ the same tactics as the first team, using the standard T formation. Such players in the backfield as Melvin Peth. Ted Peth, and Norman Dahlstadt consistently cracked off large yardage gains and to prove that it wasn't due to poor competition. both boys did well on the occasions when they took part in plays on the varsitv. Members of the team who will play a lot on the UA squad next years are: Melvin Peth, Norman Dahlstadt, Ted Peth, Bob Nokleby, Ed Bitseff. Dan Neely, Bruce Egbert, Raymond Hergert, and Arnold Benson. 9 QFISOII S COPQS Kittens IZ, Swliro-II'4111lIe5'. Kitt:-ns li, Se-4111.-IX'1mIlvy 14, Kittens 25. Blount Ye-rnmi ti, Kitvns 14. The sports department was handled by Bud Qvenell and finance by Donna lVlartin. Money was raised this year by selling ads to the business houses in Burl- ington. Edison and Nlount Vernon. Not only did these advertisements appear in the annual but also decorated the walls of the gynitvisium. Another money- making project was the auction of original stencilled ties from a life-sized hula girl figure. The Blue and Gold and Tinas Coma staffs combined. sponsored the annual Halloween lVl'isouerade dance and at the end of the year the two staffs held their annual picnic. We, the staff, have enjoyed working to give you an annual that you can trulv be proud of. S4-:1'i-1l- Miss Ifim-li. J. XV.-In-ig Rl. .Xntlt-i'soii, K. .Xnii Vsoii. t'. l'f-te-rsoii, I.. V lit-I-in. The club presi- dent, Donna Martin, headed the list with Ellen Staffenson. vice-president and program chairman, as her right hand woman, Ieanne Iungquist was in charge ol decorations? Bonnie Miller, food: Rosemarie Marihugh, service: Doro- thy Dahl, finance: Irene Anderson, clean-upg Delores Reed, girls' room: and Ieannine Berger, social service. Treasurer Charlene Henry was also present at every cabinet meet- ing to give the girls latest reports on the financial state of affairs and Secretary Nancy Lawson kept track of all the cabinets business. The Girls' Club was functioning smoothly this year as was shown by the many successful activities they spon- sored such as the Football Banquet, Old Folks' Home Program, Midyear Party, and Mother-Daughter Tea. The custom of having shadow sister renewed this year and all the girls took an active interest. Various ways of rais- ing money were planned. Selling confections at games and taking the proceeds of after-game dances were the main ways. The advisor, Miss Blom, was a great help to the girls with her advice and services. ous, The Boys' Club has completed a very successful year of activities with Ierry Henry as president, Iohn Hopley as vice-president and Duane Stowe as secretary-treasurer. Every boy in school is a member and one of the chief objectives is to promote good will and friendship among all of the boys. They are one of the most active clubs in school with such activities as pep assemblies, combining efforts with the Girls' Club to entertain at J. Henry the Old Folks' Home and raising funds to buy presents for everyone there, sponsoring the annual Boys' Club smoker, which was ei big success this year, and putting cinclcrs on the track, giving B.-EHS. a very Hne track. This year something new was started which is hoped will become an annual affair, a Father-'Son banquet which was a salmon barbecue this year. Mr. Roby was the advisor for the club. ous, Cobinel Stlnding-J. Slwpler, J. Ilopley, .T. Morse, R. Fisher, J. Henry. Km-ieliiig---IJ. Stowe, li. Nelson, N. Lawson, IJ. Paulson, K. Brtuly.
