Helping the hurt feel better
You see them at football,
basketball, wrestling, and other
athletic events, always behind the
spotlight, receiving little or no at-
tention at all. These obscure
figures are trainers here at school.
"Caring for the injured, " this
phrase pretty well sums up what
trainers do whenever a person
who participates in any athletic ac-
tivity, here at Burges, gets injured.
These people must take special
classes and receive special training
from head trainer Mr. Pacillas in

This year's Number Sense
and Calculator clubs began
renewing and learning skills
in late October. Their spon-
sors were Mrs. McDowell
for Number Sense and Mrs.
Skanse for the calculator
club. Their eyes were set on
going to state competition
late in the year. They par-
ticipated in various city com'
petitions through which the
decision was made whether
or not they would attend
the state meet.
Both sponsors think very
highly of these devoted
members, as they gave up
an endless number of lunch
hours to be perfectionists.
Those seniors that were in
the club felt that this served
as a good learning ex:
perience and they would
definitely be helped by it in
years tg come.
