l l Being their best For Mrs. Sameniego it has been an enjoyable year. the support and help of the entire staff. This was also her Hrst year as sponsor for Pegasus. Pegasus is a literary publication that is done entire- Striving for excellence means sacrificing some lunch ly by student's except the actual printing of the hours and spare time but the Pegasus staff doesn't book. The staff submits their own stories and pic- mind. During the year they had fund raising activities tures to their editor Madeline Haddox. It is then to earn funds for their club. Helping the hurt feel better You see them at football, basketball, wrestling, and other athletic events, always behind the spotlight, receiving little or no at- tention at all. These obscure figures are trainers here at school. "Caring for the injured, " this 2 phrase pretty well sums up what trainers do whenever a person who participates in any athletic ac- tivity, here at Burges, gets injured. athematicians perfect skills Luis Yuin, Louis Alvidrez, Da vid Dom- inguez, lames Dai, and Alice Low listen attentively. Luis Yuin listens to fellow mathematicians. Luis Yuin prepares supplies after working hard at problems, Mrs. McDowell was this year's Number Sense sponsor. Front row: Mercy Hernandez, Luis Yuin, Elia Hernandez, Mignon Sass, Alice Low, lames Dai. This year's Number Sense and Calculator clubs began renewing and learning skills in late October. Their spon- sors were Mrs. McDowell for Number Sense and Mrs. Skanse for the calculator club. Their eyes were set on going to state competition late in the year. They par- ticipated in various city com' petitions through which the decision was made whether or not they would attend the state meet. Both sponsors think very highly of these devoted members, as they gave up an endless number of lunch hours to be perfectionists. Those seniors that were in the club felt that this served as a good learning ex: perience and they would definitely be helped by it in years tg come. l
