This year has been a very special season
for the cross-country team, they had one
of their school meets on Edgemere this
year and this has never happened before.
Mr. Alsup the coach of the team said
"Despite the colds and injuries to some of
the runners the team did extremely well.
They worked hard and practiced well all
season long." He also had to say that he
was proud that his team beat Coronado
High because they were supposed to be
number one in district.
Coach Alsup was not kidding around
when he said, "We did in fact work hard
all season long. " Practice started in the first
week in August where they ran three to
four miles a day and lifted weights every
other day. As weeks passed by they in-
creased to seven and eight miles and finally
toward the end of the season, they were
running eight to 72 miles a day. All of this
hard work paid off by the way they in-
creased their speed and finished in the
The team showed off what they had at
the district meet by taking first place. And
in the state meet by placing eighth.

This year the lunior Varsity team placed
well all season long, as shown on the
scoreboard below. They came in 7st half
of the time which is a great accomplish-
ment for this small team. To come in first
the team had to have the lowest number
of points. They got their points by coming
in between 1st and 20th in the meet, "All
in all the team worked hard and ran well all
season long, " said coach Alsup.
Practice started in the first week of
August for the team. They ran a few miles
a day and weight lifted every other day.
Something new went on this year for
the team they run in the Crime Stoppers
run where the team placed 1st over all the
other teams. Many other schools par-
ticpated in this race, but the team won the
Something else happened this year for
the team, they had one of their meets at
home this has not happened for a long
period of time. The team hopes that they
could have a home meet every year.
