Appearing for the first time in El Paso, the Cowsills made their debut in the Burges gym Dec. 14. Tickets sold for S2 and profits went to purchase new lights and fixtures for the stage. The singing group boasts six members: four broth- ers, one sister and their mother. They have appeared on many variety and talk shows and recorded many hit songs in the past few years. Whether lack of in- terest or flat wallets, less than 500 stu- dents attended the concert, disappoint- ing not only the sponsors of the show, but also the Cowsills. just the same as last year, the second day of school after the Christmas holi- days brought snow to the Sun City. ln previous years, parents called in and protested because school had been called off for the small amounts of snow. School officials later admitted an error in judgment as El Pasoans getting out into the innocent looking snowfall discovered a treacherous ice slick on all city streets causing traffic snarls and pileups all over the city. Students chose the theme of Gay Paree and a change of scene from the gym to the Holiday Inn, vvhere Congress pro- vided the music. Diana Galloway and Sergio Martinez made an impressive Queen and King and Rosie Gonzalez and Hank Bashore served as Lady-in-Waiting and Aide-to- the-King. Student Council worked in preparing candle dripped vvine bottles and lace garters for the Gay Paree effect.
