Appearing for the first time in El Paso, the Cowsills made their debut in the Burges gym Dec. 14. Tickets sold for S2 and profits went to purchase new lights and fixtures for the stage. The singing group boasts six members: four broth- ers, one sister and their mother. They have appeared on many variety and talk shows and recorded many hit songs in the past few years. Whether lack of in- terest or flat wallets, less than 500 stu- dents attended the concert, disappoint- ing not only the sponsors of the show, but also the Cowsills. just the same as last year, the second day of school after the Christmas holi- days brought snow to the Sun City. ln previous years, parents called in and protested because school had been called off for the small amounts of snow. School officials later admitted an error in judgment as El Pasoans getting out into the innocent looking snowfall discovered a treacherous ice slick on all city streets causing traffic snarls and pileups all over the city. 1,000 students were stranded at home and many faculty members came strag- gling in after spending as long as two hours getting across town.
