'lt BULLDOGS 1959 SEASON 'l' Home Games Conference Games September 18 CRESCENT CITY 21 BUNNELL 6 In our furst game of the season we were hampered by unex peruence Several players on the furst strung had seen very luttle actuon un games durmg the prevuous season The furst quarter was the dufference un the score Crescent Cuty scored 15 pounts un the furst B munutes September 25 DUNNELLON 14 BUNNELL 25 Our offense began to roll un thus game We really scored 56 pounts but 21 of them had to be called back because of varuous penaltues Dunnellons two touchdowns were scored upon our reserves October 2 ST JOSEPH 0 BUNNELL 6 The score of thus game doesnt present a true story of what happened un thus aame We drove repeatedly to wuthun St Josephs 15 yard lune only to fumble the ball or have a penalty assessed agaunst us We gauned a total of 430 yards un rushung and passung October 9 BALDWIN 6 BUNNELL 25 Thus was the game un whuch we gauned the most yardage over 520 yards Our offense was really workung un harmony lt was a close game untnl late un the thurd quarter Jum Burnsed broke loose on on off tackle play and ron 96 yards for a touchdown October 16 D8.B 7 BUNNELL 39 ln thus game many of the reserves got playung tume for theur letter The furst three tumes Bunnell had the ball we scored At the end of the furst quarter we were ahead 21 to O October 23 LYMAN 13 BUNNELL 6 Lyman had a rough bug team and sumply overpowered Bun Coach Humphrey presents Sophomore Jerry Burnsed wuth trophy for beung the most Improved player of the year Captauns Robert Cook and Jum Burnsed receuve the Runnerup Trophy of the St Johns Ruver Conference VFW awards were presented by Wultred Hunter to Robert Cook loutstandung Iunesmant and Ronald Jaszczok foutstandung backl Page Seventy Two nells smaller lunemen Our offense bogged down un the raun and Lyman punched out two touchdowns Bunnell scored un three plays after the openung kuckoff October 30 BRANFORD 12 BUNNELL 6 fHomecomungJ Thus was one of our poorest showungs all year ln our home comung game we uust had too much homecomung festuvutues the nught before Branford gauned only about 85 yards rushung and passed for the wunnung touchdown un the funal quarter November 6 TAYLOR HIGH 14 BUNNELL 34 Thus was Taylor Hugh s furst year at football but they almost beat us At half tume the score was 7 7 After a fuerce half tume talk by Coach Humphrey we came back strong Ronald Jaszczak ran back the kuckoff for a 73 yard touchdown Three plays later Jerry Burnsed untercepted a pass and ran for a 50 yard touchdown Jaszczak scored three more tumes hus last score was a 78 yard kuckoff return un the last 10 seconds of the game November 13 HASTINGS 6 BUNNELL 7 We funally dud utl Thus was the furst tume un fuve years that Bunnell had beat Hastungs It was an evenly fought contest throughout wuth both teams mussung several scorung apportunu tues Hastungs scared on the last play of the game and we stopped the extra pount try after the game was over November 20 NEWBERRY 13 BUNNELL 0 In the funal game of the season we ran up agaunst a fune team and were beaten We mussed several scorung opportunutues ond Newberry dudnt But there us a rule whuch says the team that scores the most pounts wuns the game Ne.
