J.V. I Channel Champs third year straight For three consecutive years under the tutelage of Coach Joe Vaughan, the Junior Varsity I Basketball Teams have been Channel League Champions. Post- ing a 20-1 overall and 9-1 league record, JV-I picked Burt Yanez most valuable player. Yanez averaged 18 points and 6.1 rebounds per game to claim MVP. With a 4.4 assist record pga, David Jones gained captain title. Other high rankers found John Acord recovering 60 balls while blocking 16 shots for the season. From freethrow line, Loyal Frazier shot 77.9 per game average. Highlighting a successful tour of the tournament circuit, Junior Varsity I won championships of the Santa Barbara JV Tourney Csecond year in rowj, and Thousand Oaks JV gathering 14th year in rowj. Yanez was selected MVP in both tournaments. Acord was all tournament at Santa Barbara: Jones and Jack Cha- varria were members of the all-tourney team at Thousand Oaks. 'Winningest' season yet VARSITY BASKETBALL Going into CIF, Bulldog basketeers prep- ped the best ever record for won-loss in the school's history with a 20-4 showing. Duke Lyskin and Ted Bustamante were honored as CO-TEAM CAPTAINS. Championship of the Ventura-Kiwanis Tournament with a thrilling last flip shot defeated Ventura for top bracket, the gunners shot second place in Thousand Oaks Tourney: prestigous Beverly Hills Tournament found the Bulldogs bulling over many elite teams to garner third. Individual performances went to All Tournament selection of Duke Lyskin for Beverly Hills, Thousand Oaks, and Ventura-Kiwanis congregations.
