For the last few years, the Buena Band has steadily been improving. Under the leadership of Mr. David Kuhns, the marching band has placed in its last 24 parades. In the 1974-75 year alone, the band grabbed Ventura County Fair Parade Sweepstakes, 2nd at Rosemead Parade, Chino Band Review lst place, 2nd at the Hawthorne Band Review, Anaheim All-Pacific Band Re- view won 4th, Camarillo Christ- mas Parade Sweepstakes. In addition to the band's awards, there are several trophies con- tributed by the drum majors, baton twirlers, and the flag twirling squads over the past few years. In view of many accomplish- ments, this fine band has been invited to take part in the Bicen- tennial celebrations during sum- mer of '76. Choir has also been invited. The combined groups will be giving concerts in Boston, Philadelphia, New York, and Washington D.C. This will form a 1,976 piece band and a 300- 400 choral group. The band will play for opening of a new wing at Smithsonian Institution and march in the Rosebowl Parade. Not only is the marching band good, but they also have a con- cert band for more classical music. Each year the band, along with the choir, have a winter and spring concert. The band also attends a rating festival in March. This year, Buena was the honored hosts to many other senior and junior high school bands and orchestras from all over Southern California. L .' l 'Z
