Korean Tai Hong Oh Sponsored Through Club Funds Tai Hong Oh is a seven year old Korean boy Buena students have supported for two and a half years. He lives in Kwan Am Ri, a village located about 20 miles south of Seoul, Korea. Today, as a result of a S 15.00 check sent monthly, Tai is able to attend grammar school. Family living and village life has become a little easier. Past checks have thus far purchased a cow, some food, clothing, and farm supplies, as well as some livestock. Tai's father, Sang Ki, 29, is a farmer, and with the modern equipment he now has, food production for the family has increased somewhat. Tai's mother, Math Suoot, earns additional income by working in a general store in the village. Four year old Tai Jin, completes the family. The village in which Tai and his family lives consists of 16 families. Parents of most of these families escaped from North Korea during the Korean War. This small settlement of Kwan Am Ri lacks the necessary medical facilities needed in most parts of the world. Seeing that the monthly check is mailed is a responsibility of the Service Committee. Other projects related to Tai are sending him gifts, toys, and candy at Christmas time, as well as, pictures of various students. Several letters dur- ing the year are forwarded. Early in October, preparation begins to send Tai's Christmas pack- age. It must be mailed early to insure its arrival on time. Since Save The Children Federation first intro- duced Buena students to Tai, campus clubs have helped greatly in brightening the life of this one small Korean child and his family. ii-1 . 1' iv, XV Standing outside his home is Tai Hong Oh with his mother Math Suoot and younger brother Tai Jin. The high- light of the year is the Spring Concert, when the Band and Orchestra combine to present an eve- ning concert.
