A Look Into The Future Con't. It seems that Fred is now an agricultural expert Qfarmer in other wordsl. He is rather ssful at that. He had the highest yield of wheat per acre in the county and second highest state. He also has a missus: got her from Bucyrus, I hear. Have you heard about Richard? You more than likely have as he's on the radio and his appears in print frequently. As you perhaps know, he's been elected President of the i Nations this year. He's gone quite a ways with the education started at our dear old stone . Thelma Stonernan went to college and came out at the top of the class as usual. She is eaching school somewhere in Crawford County. I hear the schools are all vieing for ervices, and that she is now the highest paid teacher in the local schools. Bill's tale up to now has remained untold. He has a successful model agency in Memphis kes him so mad every time a Hollywood talent scout comes around as they are forever 5 his models away from him. Poor Bill, he has quite a time of it. I've taken too long already. I have to get the dishes done and the house straightened up e we get company. We've had a very successful class as a whole and I'rn proud of my mates. What Would School Have Been Without: Vaccinations ? Dave not being absent for a day? Betty Mae chewing gum in Home Econornics? Dave, Richy, Fred, Bill and John skipping school the day we had our graduation pictures taken? Surprise birthday parties ? Eileen's cake at the cake auction? Mrs. Spitzer trying to get the Senior girls a man with her glamour treatments? Miss Sherer keeping the 7th and 8th grades in at noon? Coach's excitement at basketball games ? Kids talking when teachers leave study hall? Burning popcorn at the Donkey Basketball game ? Freezing when having a fire drill? Blanket of soot on Monday morning? Kids running into you at lunch time ? Buses being late? Missing school because of snow? Miss Graham going for a long walk? Getting out of Shorthand to type ? Bill and John being managers ? Cutting up in Boys' Glee Club? I taut I taw a putty tat. ? Potato chips and square dancing at noon? Boys being noisy in Mechanical Drawing class ? Thelma working in storeroom? Movies ? Stewart's fourth period study hall? The bright sweaters, socks and shoe strings? DeVito taking our pictures ? 14

A Look Into The ,Future One evening after I had put the littlestfone to bed, I paused to reflect on what had happened to the rest of the class. You see, there was LaVern Carr and the former Betty Mae Laughbaum. They had settled down on Verny's farm after he returned from the war in Korea. He had gotten several medals over there while Betty Mae worked in an office here. A lot of times she had to work overtime in order to help get orders out to Korea. Also, Eileen Christman who always protested that she was going to be an old maid had risen to the height of housewife. There were now a couple of little Eileens and a couple of the opposite sex, also, running around the house. Now there was cute little southern Bitsy. She was the sweetest lil' waitress Dixielan' evah did see. She had plenty of offers of marriage from the big business tycoons whom she served, but she always declined. You see, she was sweet on the boss. Then I had heard about Irene Eicher. It seems that she is now a Hollywood gossip writer for the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. She always did have a gift of gab. Gone quite a ways at that. The other day I happened to be reading on the Z bomb Qnewest inventionj, and lo and behold whose name did I see in connection with it than John Green. He wasn't merely an underling, but he was the top research scientist. I met Evelyn Johnson on the street the other day and stopped to talk. She told me most of the up-to-date gossip on the class. As usual, she knew all about everybody. While we were talking I noticed two of the best behaved children standing beside us. I asked her if she knew whose they were, Land, she said, those are mine. I might have known. She told me that Marvel was rising rapidly in a big office in New York City. She started out as typist to a buyer, but when the buyer had to go to Arizona for her healthg they asked Marvel to assume her position. Now she is top buyer for the office, and she has all the travel that she can handle. As for Dave, it seems that he is now foreman in the mattress-testing department of the Beauty Rest Mattress Company. He needn't overtax his brain on this type of job. Evelyn Rankin is now one of Hollywood's top, hair specialists. She is always having trouble trying to make Bette Davis look like a. teen-ager. It's getting sort of hard tolmake her look like one any more. Paramount has been wanting her to take mother parts but Bette steadily re- fuses. Insists she isn't old enough for those parts yet. Evelyn is getting pretty good pay from her though. She does a good job, too. I3
