Never before in the local theatrical history of Bucyrus has there been an amateur play which equalled this one. A teacher was one afternoon examining a class of young boys in geography. He said: Now, boys, what do you think that Noah did while he was in the ark? After waiting several minutes he saw one hand go up, and the little chap on being asked what he thought that Noah did, replied: Sir, I think that he might have fished some. Yes, said the instructor, That is possible, he might have fished some. lo Presently another small hand went up. The teacher if I asked this one also what he thought about it. V The small boys said: I don't think that he fished very long, because he only had two worms. Ticket, sir, please, said an inspector at a railway to a gentleman who. as a season ticket holder for some time, believed his face so well known that there was no need for him to show his ticket. 'My face is my ticket, replied the gentleman, great- ly annoyed. Indeed, said the inspector rolling back his wrist band, and displaying a powerful wrist. My orders are to punch all tickets. WHEN SHE GOT IN Being very fresh and from New York they thought they would try some of their New York humor on the old stationmaster at the country station. Well, Uncle, said one .of the young men, when does the 3:40 train get in ? The old man looked at the young man and, without moving a muscle of his face, said: Well, she generally gets in just a leetle behind the engine, young man. My fingers wandered idly over the tiresome desk. I knew not what I was doing, Or what I was studying then, For I received a slap by the teacher Louder than a great Amen. Seated one day in chapel I was weary and ill at ease, For Cicero was speaking vaguely Of the bravery of Pompey's deedsg I know not what he was saying Or what I was dreaming then, But a note struck me on the cranium Like the sound of a great Amen. It Hooded my cerebellum Sent a chill down my spinal cord, And it wakened my tired spirits With a jar like an ordinary Ford. I first looked at the teacher CThe censors withheld the narneb With an innocent look which I assumed To free me from all blame. Her eyes were turning quickly And I picked up my pencil and wrote, But I looked from the corner of my eye And saw that all was not well. She glanced to the floor where the note was. In which glance something seemed revealed. And looking down I was horrified For just half the note was concealed. I saw her jot my name down I lost my temper then. And I said a word which the teacher heard. It didn't sound like Amen. The main motive for the writing of this poem is to show the young men the folly of letting their emotions carry them astray: Love is one form of insantiy, Affecting both the young and old. Sometimes the cause of profanity. When the tale of love is told. School teachers, friends and all Are affected by this curse. And when you once in love do fall, It gradually becomes worse. It leaves the suitor without the cash. And perhaps a broken heart. So if a pain through your heart doth dash Be sure it's not a Golden Dart. But my eyes met her eyes steadily Sweet Girl Graduate-One who having taken her With my foot pressed firm on the ngte, bachelor's degree is ready to take her bachelor. My pencil worked with feverish haste Rat-The only rodent of which a woman, once she What I wrote, I cannot tell takes it into her head, is not afarid. 5 K nz:-'v:'o' QQ 'rfa:e:mE!so'o:: :on'n:e:e.no.o :Quno:n,u.un.ne:n.1-zo zo :ornzvwnmmncamo..a-i.no1..MMM.,..m.- ..-,,..,. .,,u ww nunn ..,..1-M unu. , bmw nnnnn one ounvvnf Q eunr. .iz-H L-11.1-Q ' Q-mm-. Servans, scales, hats and investors are some of the things that are tipped. Table tipping is frequently cauesd by spirits. The liberality of the tipping varies directly with the amount of spirits used. When a servant is tipped, instead of losing his bal- ance he adds to it. A railroad ticket office is a place where the railroad company receives tips for allowing you to enter their cars. The real fare is paid to an Ethiopian who presides over the Pullman. Accidents resulting from high speed some times lend verisimilitude to the claim that a traveler is one who courts race suicide. Habitual travelers, however, realize that tips forever keep the berth rate increasing. HEADS Heads come on bodies, barrels, beds and bee1'. Cheeks. chins. noses. eyebrows and bald spots come on heads. Heads are used to hold hats, temper, conceit and now and then brains. Necks, caressing arms, candid remarks, call-downs, pillows and dampened towels are used to hold heads. Some heads hold more than others. The more a head holds the more it may give out. The less it holds the soon it may give out. case two heads may be better than one, especially if the lips of one head are placed in jutaxposition to the homo- logous portion of the other head. It is always considered stylish to wear heads level. Water finds its own level, but water on the brain is not found in level heads. Keeping one's head level is usually uphill work. Success. a pretty girl passing by, and peroxide are some of the things which turn heads. Families, governments and all institutions have heads, but in many cases they are merely figureheads. Heads were intended to be idea factories but more and more their work is being judged solely by their value as ornaments. SHATTERED ROMANCE Will you fore'er my honey be? He begged, as lip to lip they clung. Well, she became his boney bee. And people say that he got stung. You seem to have enjoyed the show. How were the lines ? Fairly clever. And the music '?
