The staff acknowledges its indebtedness and extends thanks to the teachers, Miss MacAvoy, the student body, and all the others who have so splendidly co-operated to make possible the publication of this volume. If it helps you to retain those golden memories of your high school days it will have achieved the purpose for which it was in- tended. To this end the work is submitted to you. nm in nunnmuinu 1 nm nuumu:inunnuunuuuuu uuuuu nmmu unuuu is , 11, I F' 'llllllIIN!IlIUIl1ltlll2IX'ISl mega 1926 4300 l..1 '.-.-'--..- , . VOLUME l.-PERIOD SOPHOMORE Fi, N ,Q HE beginning of the first great epoch of the Latham Class was marked by the election of our ever-ready, pleasing, and peppy Bernard Murray as com- lla -as ggi monder-in-chief. Irish and his officers, Ford Casto, second in command. 2lf23i+4mc i'l with Anna Kiddy and Eva Swisher carrying on affairs of state. During this ,Saws ' '-A memorable chapter, Randall Hamrick won first place in the Literary Contest for the best oration. ln the vanity contest Martha Drummond won as la petite uneng Donna Thomas as the best bluffer, and for the best looking boy, Irish Murray. joe Hoylman was the typical Charlie Chaplin. Under the direction of Miss Anna Reger a scrap book was compiled in memory of Abraham Lincoln, and additions have been made by the Sophomore classes each year. VOLUME Il.-PERIOD JUNIOR. Another epoch in this march of events was brought forth by the election of Bernard Murray as chief executive. His assistants were Randall Hamrick, associate executive, ,Edu Anne Kelley, secretary, and Ford Casto, treasurer. Primarily was the winning of the State Football Championship, with Carroll Aving- ton, John Fowkes, Clark White, Mac Hall and Casto Farrar as junior members of the squad. The extemporaneous speech of the Literary Contest was won by Randall Hamrick. jean Cunningham was elected cheer leader, and won the gold megaphone for being the best cheer leader at the State Tournament. The Junior-Senior party and banquet were the principal features of the social events of the year. Our typical Irishman, Carrol Avington, was unanimously elected captain of the '25 football eleven. VOLUME III.-PERIOD SENIOR. The leader during the last and greatest epoch was Randall Hamrickg his assistants were: Ford Casto, Vice Presidentg Martha Drummond, Secretary, and Nellie Drummond, Treasurer. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Latham acted as our Sponsors, and willingly guided us through our last year. They entertained our class with a delightful party at their home on the second of March. The Senior party was an important social event of this period. Mary Helen Lawson was appointed Editor-in-Chief of School Lifen, while Evelyn Ashcraft was Assistant Editorg Ford Casto and Angeline Price, Business Managers, john Fowkes and Willard Ayres, Athletic Editors. Several of the reporters and typists were also Seniors. The poem of the Senior Class Song was composed and arranged to the music, Into the Dusk by Kathryn Lawton and Anna Kiddy. We were entertained by the Juniors with a banquet which proved wholly delightful as were all the other parties and entertainments. At last we reached the goal for which we had long been struggling when we received our diplomas on commencement night. 39 ,-.ts 'v QYXAQ oi -' Yoke ' Kewl by P?ivi'm5T..,, . ,, 'I r. 5+ A- Q E A ,Q ,L V I .. , .Ez , Yvusxkcxk is GX UW HB. fx, Ll -TQQQW X. All but one of the letter men of the varsity this l ggi! year have played on former junior High teams. VVith the team facing an l QL, xgkf exceptionally hard schedule, Coach Bullman put forth his best efforts and L ' ' ' ' produced a Junior High team of which the school can be justly proud. The team elected Ed Coyner to captaincy at the first of the-year and the season started eff with all the success possible. One game of note was the trimming of the fast -lunior High team at Shinnston. It might be interesting to note that the Shinnston lads won the junior High basketball tournament. At the close of the season the boys Went to Adamston to participate in the junior High Tournament. Due to the guarding of Coyner, even though he had a badly injured eye, the Upshur County lads gave a good account of themselves and were only beaten one field goal by Central Junior High School of Clarksburg. There is very good material for a future high school team in Junior High and from all indications, as time goes on, lluck- hannon High will be able-to hold their own with any high school team in the stat :.
