Three of these memories will be Mr. Oscar Schneyer, principal, and Mr. Fred Weber and Miss Beatrice Rentschler, assistant principals. Oh yes, they ba-wled us out a few times for flicking assemblies and getting here at eight o'clock instead of seven-thirty, but we also got to know them ,as three wonderful people. None ot us will forget the concertos that Mr. Schneyer played for us at announcement time, or the way Mr. Weber leaped on the stage at assemblies, or Miss Rentschler and her hankie. Three other memories that we will take with us are those of Miss Bertha Maier, Miss Florence Woddell, and Miss Lucile Gustafson. our class sponsors. Not only did they bear history and English into our thick heads, but they gave up their spare time to advising senior committees, chaperoning social events, and planning our graduation exercises. All in all, there are no words which can express our ap- preciation to our principals and sponsors who made high school more profitable and more worthwhile. Then, ot course. we will never forget the school itself, Iohn lf. fluchtel High School, whose familiar halls we have trod for four years, We are proud of our school. We are proud of its sports program, one of the widest offered in the city. We are proud of the championships in basketball, swimming, and golf, that we won during our stay here twe leave the foot- ball championship to be won by future generations? We are proud of Buchtel's scholastic record. one which never fails to bring home honors in the Senior Scholastic and Kent Dis- tric examinations. We are proud of the Buchtel Talon, the band, the orchestra, the Y-Teens, Hi-Y, Comwolei, Science Club, Spanish Club, Dramatic Club, Latin Club, and the glee clubs. We-are proud of the Student Council, the democratic organization that rules our school. We are proud of the prin- cipals and the faculty, who made our stay in high school something to remember. We are proud of Buchtel's tradi- tions: the Turkey Day race, the Faculty-Varsity games. the May Queen and Homecoming Queen, and King B. Yes, we are proud of Buchtel. The school itself is not even finished structurally, but already, the youngest school in the city, the under-dog, it is a school to be reckoned with. and we will never forget the four years we spent within its portals. .
