UKOS U KA Yokosuka, Japan is situated in the central part of the Muira P enninsula. Yokosuka flourished as the naval base of eastern Japan up to the end of World War ll and has been re- born as one of Japan's important trade and fishing port as well as a sightseeing base for the Muira Penninsula. The BUCHANAN visited this port of call three times during our deployment. During these visits sightseeing tours Where arranged to such places as Tokyo, Kamakura, and Hakone National Park. Gur cameras, which Were mostly purchased in this port, were fast at Work during our stay. Items such as china, stereo equipment, and bicycles, began to flood the ship as each crew member returned from liberty. Many fine liberty hours were enjoyed in Yokosuka from the tours to night clubs. During two of our evenings of rest, the ship held a party at the club Alliance. Entertainment, food, and refreshments were in abundance. With the gifts, fun, and memories behind We left Yokosuka on the 26th of July for the best port of all, San Diego.
