UPERA TIUNS and HIPBOARD LIFE The BUCHANAN departed San Diego on 5 January and returned on 9 August. During our deployment We were at sea 167 days and in port 49 days. We steamed over 60,000 miles and used over 4,250,000 gallons of fuel oil. We Went along side other units of the SEVENTH Fleet to refuel and replenish 75 times. We took on l35 tons of stores and had a total of 4l7 movies come aboard. The crew bought 333,400.00 Worth of stamps and received 4 tons of mail.
