Q rfvbfxtl WWC mfr if Greetings mates : Since I have made this cruise with you and at one time or another have visited each of your compartments and lockers, having survived the repeated sprayings which almost got me, but only dampened my spirits a little, I want to move along from page to page with you and serve as a reminder that we are insepa- rable, the Brass Canoe and I. My name? Oh yes. . . Why, it is CUCA-RACHA, of course. Sf Your mate Cuccy cz af Qaida Though we were delayed a few hours in getting underway due to bad weather, we put to sea in a true Navy fashion. Stopping first at PEARL HARBOR and then at GUAM, each section enjoyed liberty, and we were ready to proceed. After crossing the INTERNATIONAL DATE LINE we soon became attached to the U.S. SEVENTH FLEET, and entered SUBIC BAY, Pl. After about two weeks here, we headed for a week of R Sz R and shopping in oriental dreamland, HONG KONG, B.C. Next, we spent a week in KAOHSIUNG, FORMOSA, before returning to MANILA and SUBIC BAY for another three weeks. Underway again, we stayed two weeks more in KAOHSIUNG before setting course for OKINAWA. After two weeks of mostly R Sz R in BUCKNER BAY, we again set our course for that home port away, from home-SUBIC BAY. - After a month of routine work and spreading of goodwill, we said goodbye for the last time to SUBIC BAY and spent two days at sea before arriving at KAOHSIUNG. At last, upon leaving KAOHSIUNG, we were finally headed in the right direc- tion-toward JAPAN. After playing hide-and-seek with typhoon Ellen, we finally arrived in SASEBO about live days late. But our short stay here still will be long remembered. ' Once again we took to the sea, this time heading for KOBE for a few days of f b ' h e for about two weeks the BRYCE CANYON both work and pleasure. A ter eing er set sail for YOKOHAMA for two more days of R 8z R, and one last fling before setting the special sea detail and getting underway once more. This time we were HOMEWARD BOUND l . . R- M
