We all wondered what we were doing in Kaohsiung. Our work load was light but as usual our spirits were high and we soon made friends of the patriots of Free China. Should the worst have occured, we were ready to evacuate Hong Kong and offer assistance to destroyers in our assigned area. In remembering our cruise, Kaohsiung will come to mind as a time of rest and relaxation, and knowing that here too we helped to further the People to People Program by offering our services to the Chinese.
